PE Games: Get fit while having fun
don't have to be just for kids. Granted, older kids might not want mom, dad, grandma, and grandpa playing games with them - though they can surprise you!
It is primarily the elementary and middle school age boys and girls we need to get active. If we play with them we can get fit at the same time. My children are ages 12, 10, 10, and 8 and they still love it when dad plays games with them and believe me, the games can give me a workout.
Unfortunately in our culture today, too many kids don't know how to organize their own neighborhood games, so maybe they need a helping hand from you.
The are a number of sites that list PE games and there are lots of books.
The Boy Scouts
have a great site that will provide lots of ideas for games.
The most important thing is our children don't have the same physical demands doing chores and such at home that they did on past generations. They don't even play the same; BUT THEY NEED TO! Get out there and play with them and model fun, fitness activity. GET IN THE GAME!
One final word, please consider joining our institute so we can invite you to add to this site. We will provide you with a free monthly e-zine full of great information on all aspects of health and physical education. One of the great benefits of joining will be the opportunity to hear about new ideas, products, or programs first and even try them at a discount!
The more we share, the more we learn, the more we help everyone become healthier and more physically fit.
